These two sessions will intertwine curriculum issues with strategies that work toward improving student performance on the PSAE. Reading Across Disciplines: Preparing for ISAT-PSAE

Presenter: Susan Goodale  If everybody helps, then everybody wins! Every teacher from Social Studies to Math is a teacher of Reading. If students cannot read their textbooks and comprehend, then they won’t read them and they won’t succeed. This workshop provides teachers with new strategies in all disciplines with tools to help students be more successful in the classroom and on the ISAT and PSAE tests. Take away more than a dozen strategies that you can immediately apply to boost student success at any grade level.

The Learning Olympiad is a friendly competition structured academic atmosphere filled with creative thinking and problem solving exercises. There are an array of hands-on activities, questions, and challenges across the curriculum of Math, Science, Social Studies, Lang. Arts, and the Arts. Teams of 4 students (at least one from each grade level & no more than 2 from any grade level). Each school district may enter up to two teams. If slots are available, additional teams may be added after the Oct. 26 deadline by calling the ROE 618/392-4631.
